Welcome to The Helpful Art Teacher, an interdisciplinary website linking visual arts to math, social studies, science and language arts.
Learning how to draw means learning to see. A good art lesson teaches us not only to create but to look at, think about and understand our world through art.

Tessellation fun
This was created by a 7th grade boy using a tessellation of his own design. He took a picture of a single tile of his tessellation and rotated and flipped it using Adobe Photo shop. He saved each growing image as a jpeg and put all the images together using Microsoft Power Point. The music in the background is actually my daughter improvising at the piano.
